After a decade as an interior designer, Vivian Kao felt a need to combine her 
design abilities and her skills as a craftsperson. Art glass provided the perfect 
opportunity to do "hands on" work with a wide array of colors and textures in 
both contemporary and traditional designs.  Vivian's decision to focus on art 
glass was also motivated by her strong belief that daily living can be enhanced 
by beautifying and personalizing one's surroundings, especially through the 
addition of both beautiful and functional everyday objects. 
Art glass is the perfect medium for  adding an architectural or decorative 
signature to enhance one's personal space. With custom works, Vivian 
engages clients in the creative process to ensure that their wishes are 
reflected in the final design and the choice of glass. Her work ranges from 
small decorative panels, perfect as gifts for a new home or a wedding, to 
large transoms, windows, sidelights and skylights.  
Additional professional experience includes costuming for theatre, opera, 
and dance, and set design for independent videos.
