Who would think rebellion could be so beautiful? The turn of the twentieth 
century heralded a change in glass design as designers and artists rebelled 
against tradition and expressed themselves in what became known as the 
art nouveau style. The colors became lighter, the lines more organic and 
curvilinear. The Art Deco movement followed Art Nouveau and was 
characterized by a simplification of design, brighter and bolder colors, 
and more industrial themes.
